Britain's trade deficit slows to USD3b in August


(MENAFN) According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), British trade deficit in goods and services was estimated at USD3 billion in August, Xinhua reported.

The figures were less than the USD3.1 billion which was registered a month ago. Exports of goods decreased by USD 8.86 million to USD 40.77billion mainly attributed to oil.

There was a deficit of USD 11.52 billion on goods partly offset by an estimated surplus of USD 9.11billion on services in August. The trade in goods deficit narrowed by USD 1.64 billion over July 2014.

Meanwhile, imports of goods decreased by USD2.53 billion in the cited period to USD40.9 billion, reflecting falls in imports of aircraft, fuels and chemicals, ONS data showed.
