Tunisian PM Meets U.N. Secretary General


(MENAFN- QNA) Tunisian Interim Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa met Friday with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, currently on a visit to Tunis.

Ban said his visit is an expression of the U.N. support for Tunisia in its transitional phase, commending its assistance in the evacuation of U.N. mission personnel in Libya and the support it provided to the international organization's mission in Tunisia, the official TAP news agency reported.

The U.N. secretary general said he believes the Tunisian experience of democratic transition will successfully conclude with the upcoming election, a statement by the Tunisian cabinet said.

In turn, Jomaa hailed U.N. support for Tunisia, highlighting the economic and security challenges facing his government since assuming its duties.

He also underlined the Tunisian people's determination to make the transitional phase succeed and moving towards political stability.
