Logistics center to help meat imports from Kyrgyzstan
(MENAFN- Arab News) Saudi Arabia will build a logistics center in Kyrgyzstan in order to assist in ensuring the supply of quality meat to the Kingdom and enhance cooperation in the field of agriculture animal husbandry and fisheries.
Sources said there is lack of a mobile laboratory in Kyrgyzstan for testing the quality of meat which hinders its export. However the Kingdom has agreed to give $2 million in aid to the Kyrgyz Republic for the building of a specialized laboratory.
Moreover an official at the Kyrgyz Embassy here said recently that the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan is reviewing a draft agreement on cooperation in the sphere of agriculture cattle breeding and fishery between the two countries.
He said the ministry is examining the draft agreement received through diplomatic channels for bilateral cooperation in these fields and preparing to sign the agreement soon.
Commenting on the development earlier K.R. Taalaibek Aidaraliev minister of agriculture and land reclamation of Kyrgyzstan had said that that Gulf Arab countries including Saudi Arabia are interested in buying meat from Kyrgyzstan.
He pointed out that the lack of special laboratories to test the quality of meat were an obstacle 'in exporting our meat and therefore it was essential to set up a mobile laboratory for which negotiations are under way with Saudi Arabia for the construction of a logistics center.'
The Kyrgyz minister pointed out that his government has agreed to allot 50 hectares for the logistics center.
'If a bilateral agreement is reached Saudi entrepreneurs will start construction of a logistics center' said the minister.
