Ban Kimoon Arrives in Tunisia


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tunis October 10 (QNA) - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived here today on a two-day official visit to Tunisia at the invitation of Tunisian interim President Mohamed Moncef Marzouki.



Stephane Dujarric Spokesman for the Secretary-General said in press release that during the visit the UN Secretary-General will hold talks with President Marzouki Prime Minister Mehdi Juma'ah National Assembly President Mustapha ben Jaafar and Foreign Minister Mungi Hamdi.



He is also scheduled to meet with a number of civil society representatives in Tunisia The visit comes upon an invitation by the Tunisian President during a meeting they held in New York last month on the sidelines of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly.



The Tunisian presidency said that "the visit is a symbolic gesture on the part of Ki towards Tunisia to complete the transitional process and organize fair and transparent democratic elections. "(QNA)
