US Drone Strike Kills Four Militants in North Waziristan


(MENAFN- QNA) At least four suspected militants were killed and three others were injured following a drone strike in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan on Thursday.

Pakistani security officials have said the airstrike targeted a vehicle at Laman village in Dattakhel Tehsil area. The officials further added that a number of foreign militants were also among those killed or injured following the airstrike, Khaama press reported.

Thursday’s strike is the fifth consecutive drone attack in the last five days in restive North and South Waziristan, targeting the suspected militants and their hideouts.

The death toll from the flurry of such strikes this week to 25.

The tribal regions of Pakistan, specifically the North and South Waziristan are believed to be strongholds of Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives, as well as foreign fighters such as Uzbeks and Uighurs.

The Pakistani army also launched a major offensive against the rebels in North Waziristan in June. According to the Pakistani military officials, more than 1,000 suspected militants and 86 soldiers have been killed so far during the operations.
