Meraas Holding starts work on new theme parks project in Dubai

(MENAFN) Meraas Holding, the Dubai-based developer, announced it is planning to add a grand entrance plaza and canal development to interconnect its three theme parks in Dubai Parks & Resorts project in Jebel Ali, Arabian Business reported.

The first phase of the project is set to include three theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and Legoland Dubai, in addition to Riverpark, a waterside retail and dining development, and is set to be completed in 2016.

Riverpark, which will be constructed on an area of 120.000 square meters with a total built up area of 20.000 sqm, will include retail outlets, casual dining options, quick service restaurants, as well as varied indoor and outdoor entertainment offerings.

The plaza will also feature a one kilometer canal, which will flow through the development, and will be lined with caf"s and retail outlets on either side, with water taxis to ferry visitors in between venues, as well as an expansive arena for hosting community events, street entertainment and a range of outdoor activities.

"Riverpark will serve as a central meeting point for visitors across the three themed amusement parks as well as guests to the Polynesian themed family hotel, Lapita. The precinct is sure to find resonance with visitors keen to sit back and unwind after an eventful day at the theme parks or to simply enjoy a fun evening with family and friends," CEO of Dubai Parks & Resorts said.
