Taiwan's foreign trade hits USD49.36b in September


(MENAFN) According to Taiwan's Ministry of Finance, the country's foreign trade gained 2.56 percent on year to USD49.36 billion in September on the back of the recovering global economy, QNA reported.

Exports rose 4.7 percent from last year to USD26.43 billion last month, while imports edged up 0.2 percent to USD22.93 billion. Net trade surplus surged 49.1 percent to USD3.5 billion.

For the first nine months of the year, exports rose 3.5 percent to USD234.65 billion, mirrored by imports, up 3.2 percent to USD208.3 billion. Total trade surplus increased 6 percent to USD26.35 billion.

Electronics remained Taiwan's top export item, up 13.7 percent to the second highest on record of USD8.89 billion, or 33.6 percent of shipments, the Ministry data showed.
