(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The 28-year-old Nepali worker was found guilty of slitting his colleague's throat over a Dh500-debt following a drunken brawl.

A worker who slit his colleague’s throat over a Dh500 debt following a drunken brawl has had his life in prison verdict upheld by the Court of Appeals. The 28-year-old Nepali worker was found guilty of premeditated murder by the Court of First Instance in April.

He will be deported after completing his prison time.

The defendant admitted in the investigation that he had known the victim for three years and lent him Dh500.

The victim was supposed to give the money back one month later but kept evading him. On the day of the incident the convict saw the victim who appeared drunk outside their shared accommodation.

The defendant had consumed alcohol earlier and sat and drank some more with the victim.

The victim told the defendant that he would not return the money he had borrowed and made fun of the former.

The victim even dared him to do what he could to retrieve the money the defendant claimed.

The victim then pushed the defendant following which the latter went to a nearby shop and bought a kitchen knife.

He went to the victim and asked once again if he would pay his money back to which the latter replied in the negative.

The defendant then stabbed the victim in the neck chest and abdomen.

He dropped the knife at the crime scene and reported the incident to the accommodation’s security guard who notified the police and held the defendant until the police arrived.

The security guard confirmed that the defendant went to him on May 15 last year with his arms and hands covered with blood.

A policeman who responded to the call from the crime scene at the company’s accommodation in Al Quoz quoted the accused as admitting that he killed the victim. The latter was seen lying on his abdomen in a pool of blood outside the accommodation.

The accused did not appeal the verdict at the Court of Cassation.
