US expresses concern about protester deaths in Turkey
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US expressed its concern Wednesday about clashes between security forces and Kurdish protesters in Turkey, most of whom are angry at the government's inaction in protecting the border town of Kobani in Syria.
At least 21 people have died, some of them during clashes between supporters and opponents of ISIL.
"It's very concerning to us," said State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki. "We support freedom of expression, freedom of assembly in Turkey, as we do around the world." "We urge all sides to exercise restraint and avoid violence," she added.
