Abbas Meets U.K. State Minister for Middle East


(MENAFN- QNA) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday met with U.K. Foreign Office Minister for Middle East Tobias Ellwood.

During the meeting, Abbas briefed the British official on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the Palestinian endeavor in the United Nations to set a time limit to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on 1967 borders.

Abbas stressed the importance of the United Kingdom's support for the Palestinian efforts at the Security Council to end the Israeli occupation according to a peace process that moves in the right direction towards achieving the ambitions of the Palestinian people in freedom and independence.

For his part, Ellwood reiterated his government's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and its efficient participation in a conference to reconstruct Gaza Strip.
