Airbus lags behind Boeing on plane sales

(MENAFN) European Airbus Group announced that it has taken 791 net jet orders in the January-September period, lagging behind its US rival, which received 1,000 net orders, Oman Observer reported.

The European aerospace giant has also lagged behind in number of deliveries, with 443 delivered compared to Boeing's 528. This drove jets manufacturer to raise its market forecasts last month.

Most of the orders booked by Airbus so far this year are for the fuel-efficient medium-range aircraft, the A320neo which accounts for 512 orders, followed by 146 orders for A321neo.

"It's up to us to find a way to convince more clients to go with the A380, to consider the size of this plane as an advantage," said Airbus CEO during a press conference in September.
