GCC leather trade reaches USD3.9b in 2013


(MENAFN) The value of leather imports and exports across the GCC countries reached USD3.9 billion in 2013, with imports and exports including products like semi-finished and finished leather products, travel goods, accessories, handbags, and footwear, Saudi Gazette reported.

The UAE tops the list of countries with USD2 billion in exports and imports, while Saudi Arabia, which also is a big manufacturer of leather products, posted USD1.1 billion worth of leather imports and exports in 2013.

Meanwhile, Dubai became the second-most important global destination for international retailers of leather products after London, by controlling 30 percent of the Middle East's luxury market, and particularly in leather products.
