Shaikh Mansour owned horse wins European Championship for fillies

Dubai: The Jean-Francois Bernard-trained Loraa owned by Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs won the Group 1 Qatar Total Arabian Trophy Des Juments (4-year-old fillies race also known as the European Championship for fillies) at Longchamp on Saturday.



The 2000-metre contest was part of the two-day French Arc de Triomphe racing extravaganza held in Longchamp France and Loraa scored a superb win under star jockey Christophe Soumillon to finish ahead of the Harry Bentley-ridden Taraf owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani and trained by Julian Smart. Aden another Smart runner finished third under Christophe Lemaire.



Loraa took 2:16:87 minutes to win the 2000-metre contest.



Lara Sawaya Executive Director of the HH Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Chairperson of Ladies Racing Committee in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) attended the race and greeted the winning horse after its brilliant run in front of a packed race course in Longchamp. “This filly was bred in Shaikh Mansour’s breeding operations based in Normandy” she said.
