MEA's IT spending to grow 40 percent by 2018

(MENAFN) According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), IT spending by manufacturers across the MEA region is expected to grow almost 40 percent over the next five years, Gulf Business reported.

The growth is predicted to reach 8 percent in 2015, which will be the highest in the five-year period of 2014 -2018 while the compound annual growth rate is predicted to grow 6.8 percent for the 2013-2018 period.

IDC said that the growth in IT expenditure is attributed the manufacturers adopting 3D platform technologies, an increasing awareness of IT threats and a shortage of skilled IT professionals in the region.

Meanwhile, gulf governments are expected to increase their investments in smart services, with IT spending in the UAE expected to reach USD3.46 billion in 2014, growing 8.3 percent compared to last year.
