Yemen's Houthis reject bin Mubarak's assignation to form gov't

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Houthi group on Tuesday rejected strongly a decree by Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi assigning Dr. Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak to form a new government.

This decree poses a violation to the Peace and National Partnership Agreement (PNPA) inked by all political parties on September 21, said a statement by Houthis group in response to Hadi's decree.

"The decision to assign bin Mubarak was taken without consensus and backed by foreign parties," the group said but did not name those parties, adding it represents a blatant disregard to Yemen's independence, and sovereignty and people's will, and sacrifice.

Earlier in the day, bin Mubarak was named, by virtue of a decree issued by President Hadi to form a new government, a move that angered the Houthis.

According to Yemen news agency (SANA), the decree mandates bin Mubarak with the forming of new government based on the PNPA signed last month, after Houthi rebels seized control of the capital of Sanaa.

Bin Mubarak was born in 1968 in Aden governorate. He holds a doctorate in business administration from Baghdad University.

Last position Bin Mubarak held was a presidential office director.

Bin Mubarak served between 18 January 2013 and 25 January 2014 as a secretary general of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), comprising representatives of all political parties and civic groups which Hadi had convened to map out reforms.
