Death toll in Turkey's demonstrations reaches 10

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 10 people were killed in demonstrations supporting the Kurdish forces who are battling against the advance of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) militants on the city of Ain Al-Arab, or Kobane, in northern Syria.

Roughly nine people were killed in demonstrations organized by Turkish political parties Tuesday night, local media said, adding the demonstrations turned violent following reports that ISIL had captured Kobane over the weekend.

Earlier in the day, Hakan Buksur was reportedly killed by live ammunition as police hit protesters with bullets, tear gas and water cannon in the eastern province of Muas Varto district, according to the media.

Groups reportedly affiliated with Kurdish parties vandalized several bank branches, set vehicles on fire and looted a supermarket in Turkey's eastern and southeastern provinces.
