Statoil confirms gas supply deal with Ukraine's Naftogaz

(MENAFN) Statoil, the Norway-based energy and gas giant, announced that its deal with the Ukrainian counterpart Naftogaz for gas supply was confirmed, Xinhua reported.

Spokesperson of Statoil told press that his company has reached an agreement with Naftogaz, which came into effect on the first of this month. Gas delivery is to be done through Slovakia.

"In relation to Statoil's gas portfolio, this is a short-term agreement on a relatively low volume of gas," the spokesperson said, refusing to provide any further details about the deal.

It is noted that earlier in June Russia cut gas supply to Ukraine after the two countries failed to reach a deal over how to settle the belated bills amounting to USD1.95 billion.
