(MENAFN- QNA) The Malaysian government strongly rejects and condemns the violent acts committed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) which forced and attacked others in the efforts to form its own state.
Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin was quoted by Malaysian News Agency (Bernama) as saying that as a nation that aspired for universal peace, Malaysia totally rejected the formation of the group or any party associated with violence.
"The action of this group does not reflect the teachings of Islam and Islam does not recognise the formation of ISIL as declared on June 29," he said when replying to a question from Datuk Seri Hadi Awang (PAS-Marang) who wanted the government to state its official stand on the formation of the new administrative region under the control of ISIL in Iraq.
Hamzah told the Dewan Rakyat that in line with this, the government took the stand to fully support Resolution 2170 of the United Nations which opposed any form of support for such a group.
He said this was further strengthened by supporting Resolution 2178 which enhanced efforts to harness the international body to combat violence in general and to go against international terrorists in particular.
