Nine die in road accidents
(MENAFN- Arab News) Nine people were killed in road accidents on Riyadh and Madinah roads on the second and third day of Eid.
In two separate accidents on the Riyadh road near Taif seven people were killed. Two more died on Monday morning in Madinah according to officials.
'Two speeding vehicles that crashed in Mahani village on the Riyadh highway near Taif led to the death of five passengers. They were burned to death in their car' said Siraj Hamadain spokesperson of the Ministry of Health in Taif. Other seriously injured people were taken to the hospital.
In another incident near Zulm two people were killed on the spot and six injured.
There were six road accidents on Monday morning in Madinah said Khalid Al-Sahli spokesperson of the Saudi Red Crescent Society in Madinah in a statement on Monday.
He said two people were killed and 13 injured in these accidents with four suffering from serious injuries. The injured were transferred to King Fahd Hospital in Madinah.
In another tragic incident an Indian expatriate working in Riyadh who was on his way to Makkah to perform the Haj fell sick and died on Friday in Kasra village on the Riyadh-Makkah highway. He was buried on Monday in Afif.
Abdullah Kunju a resident of Mangalore in Karnataka state was traveling with his wife.
'My mother was not able to proceed further to Makkah because of the sudden death of my father. My father died without fulfilling his dream of performing the Haj' said Quraishi son of the deceased.
