(MENAFN- QNA) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry in a telephone conversation on Friday discussed the situation in Ukraine and agreed to continue close contact on international and bilateral issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed the need for the conflicting sides to strictly comply with the Minsk agreements on truce, withdrawal of heavy weapons and OSCE
monitoring," the ministry, quoted by Russian Itar-Tass news agency, said.
Lavrov called for immediate secession of shelling of residential quarters in Donetsk, which have killed civilians and a member of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Lavrov and Kerry agreed to continue "close contact for detailed discussion of pressing international and bilateral issues", the ministry said.
