Ukraine's economy to drop 8 percent in 2014

(MENAFN) Ukraine's economic performance is expected to drop by 8 percent in its gross domestic product (GDP) this year, compared to the 5 percent fall which was predicted in June, Xinhua reported.

This decrease is attributed to the impact of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, which has disrupted economic activity, made collection of taxes difficult, affected exports, and hurt investors' confidence in the country.

Meanwhile, the nation's economy is predicted to decrease by 1.0 percent in 2015, compared with a previously estimated 2.5-percent growth, especially following Ukraine's GDP going down 3 percent in the January-June period of this year compared to the same period last year and the expectation that it would further decline by 6.5 percent for the full year.
