UN Security Council to Discuss Female Refugees, Middle East Conflict

(MENAFN- QNA) The UN Security Council will hold open debates on refugee women and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict this month, said Maria Cristina Perceval, Argentinian ambassador to the United Nations and president of the council for October.

During the open debates, experts and UN member states will address the council on the protection of refugee and internally displaced women and on the situation in the Middle East.

While no date has been set yet, the council is expected to vote on a draft resolution submitted by Arab countries that would serve as the bases of peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

The document would reportedly set a two-year deadline to end the Israeli occupation of territories captured in 1967, including East Jerusalem.
