Tokyo Stocks Tumble 2.6% to 1-Month Low on Global Economy Worries

(MENAFN- QNA) Tokyo stocks tumbled Thursday, with the Nikkei stock index plunging to a one-month low below the 15,700 line, hurt by worries over the course of the global economy and the first confirmed case of Ebola in the US.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended sharply down 420.26 points, or 2.61%, from Wednesday at 15,661.99, its worst finish since Sept. 1, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 38.06 points, or 2.89%, lower at 1,280.15.

Decliners were led by air transport, real estate as well as glass and ceramics issues.
