RTA announces special timings for Eid holidays


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) All paid parking zones in Dubai will be free to use from October 3 to 7; service centres to be closed.

The Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has beefed up transport and other related services for the Eid Al Adha holidays. While Metro operational timings have been modified residents can enjoy free parking from Friday October 3 till Tuesday October 7.



Moaza Al Marri Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication RTA Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector said all customer service centres will remain closed during the holidays.



“Vehicle testing and registration service will be closed on Saturday Sunday and Monday and the services will resume on Tuesday October 7” Al Marri said.



Free parking



All paid parking zones in Dubai will be free to use during the Eid holidays except for the parking lot at the Fish Market and the multi-level parking terminal.



Dubai Metro timings



The Dubai Metro stations will be open for passengers on Thursday Saturday and Sunday (October 2 4 and 5) from 5.30am up to 2am (the following day); and on Friday October 3 the Metro service will be operational from 10am up to 2am (the following day).



Al Marri said: “On ... October 6 and 7 (Monday and Tuesday) the Metro service will start at 5.30am till 1am.”



Bus services



At the main public bus stations at Gold Souk and Al Ghubaiba the service will start at 5.10am and run till 12am.



At the subsidiary stations of Satwa Qusais Qouz Industrial and Jebel Ali the service to Jebel Ali will start from 6am till 10pm the official said.

The rest of the stations will be operational from 5.30am till 11.45pm. The Metro feeder bus stations will operate from 5.15am to 1.10am and will be synchronised with the Metro operational hours.



Free commutes



The RTA will offer free commutes for passengers from The Dubai Mall to the World Trade Centre during the Eid holidays. “Ten buses are being deployed to provide free rides to the public on the route in order to make up for any potential shortage of taxicabs in vital areas of the emirate.



“The service will be in operation from 1pm on all Eid holidays. The Dubai Events Management Team along with traffic organisers and controllers team will be on site and venues of major events” explained Adel Shakeri Director of Transportation Systems. -dhanushakhaleejtimes.com
