A two-year-old Pakistani girl died after she was run over by her cousin who was reversing his car near their villa in Ajman. The incident was reported in Al Sawan area on Tuesday.
The toddler’s father was sitting in the front passenger seat of the 4WD car when the incident took place. Both men thought that the little girl was in the car while reversing they told the police.
Her father rushed her to Khalifa Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. A police official said that they won’t be blaming the family in the accident report. “The family is in a state of shock” the officer said. “No foul play is suspected in the case and the incident was unintentional.”
The official said these kind of accidents are happening frequently outside villas. “Families must always ensure the safety of their children especially around vehicles” he said.
He also advised that the person accompanying the driver can do a visual check for the driver before reversing the vehicle.
