Qatar- Al Sada meets US counterpart


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, during his visit to the US, met with his American counterpart Dr Ernest Moniz.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed global energy situation and developments and challenges in the oil and gas markets. They also discussed Qatar Petroleum investments in the US, in addition to bilateral cooperation in energy field, QNA reported.

Dr Al Sada also met with a number of heads of major energy companies in Houston, led by Exxon Mobil, ConocoPhillips and Chevron Phillips Chemical. They also reviewed mutual relations and ways of enhancing them.

The meetings were attended by Qatar's Ambassador to the US Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari and a number of senior officials at Qatar Petroleum, Ras Gas and Qatar Petroleum International.

Qatar's Ambassador to the US also hosted a dinner in honour of Dr Al Sada in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce and the US-Qatar Business Council in Washington DC. The ceremonial dinner was attended by a number of American officials, headed by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson and Susan Ziadeh, who is responsible for Gulf Affairs and Yemen at the US State Department.

Addressing the guests, Dr Al Sada stressed the strong relationship between Qatar and energy companies in the US, emphasising on the need for closer cooperation between the two sides.

Such a partnership will help Qatar exploit its energy resources in order to be an engine for development and build a sustainable economy that benefits all Qataris.
