S. Korea's exports surge 6.8 percent in September

(MENAFN) The South Korean government said that the country's exports surged in September compared to a year earlier, while imports grew slightly at a faster pace, Yonhap reported.

According to the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the country's outbound shipments came to USD47.69 billion last month, an increase of 6.8 percent from September last year.

The world's third-largest economy's imports rose 8 percent on-year to USD44.33 billion. Meanwhile, it posted a trade surplus of USD3.36 billion, marking the 32nd consecutive month of posting a surplus.

"There continues to exist a number of instabilities, such as the slow economic recovery in most advanced countries, but the country's exports are expected to maintain an upward trend," head of the ministry's trade and investment bureau said.
