Sierra Leone and Liberia Urge Collective Fight Against Ebola

(MENAFN- QNA) Foreign ministers of Sierra Leone and Liberia have called on the international community to collectively fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, addressing the UN General Assembly on behalf of their heads of state who had stayed home to oversee efforts.

Sierra Leonean Foreign Minister Samura Kamara welcomed the recent large-scale mobilization of international efforts, however, called on UN member states to lift flight bans and continue to step up emergency response measures.

"We wish to remind the world that fighting the Ebola virus disease in West Africa is a matter of life and death for the whole of humanity," Kamara says.

Liberian Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan said that his country is fighting back against the disease, which has decimated the country's health system.
