Ecuador seeks to attract Dubai investors

(MENAFN) Dubai's top officials have been having negotiations with the South American nation of Ecuador to discuss ways of increasing the efforts to enhance the trade between the two countries, Khallej Times reported.

Bilateral trade value between the two countries reached USD5.3 million in 2013, while Ecuadorian exports to the UAE also increased by 8 percent in the same year as well as registering a 34 percent increase during the January-March period in 2014.

Ecuador has been taking significant steps in order to attract investments from the UAE, especially towards its promising tourism and mining sectors as well as fishery and agri-food industry.

The South American country is also trying to promote its tourism sector for UAE nationals, due to it being famous for its biodiversity and natural tourism attractions, which includes the renowned Gal"pagos National Park - a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO.

Emirates airlines have been helping in facilitating the trade between the new company by releasing a cargo service connecting Ecuador with Dubai in December last year.

"We are now able to connect Ecuador with Dubai and with the region via Amsterdam and provide new opportunity. We believe this connectivity will now help create more trade opportunities," The Senior Vice-president, cargo planning and freighters for Emirates airline said.
