Qatar- Huge response to Back 2 Business

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) More than 600 business leaders and professionals are expected to meet on October 1 in Doha for the 10th edition of 'The Back 2 Business', one of Qatar's most popular business networking events.

This was announced by Palma Libotte, Chairperson of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Qatar, in a press conference yesterday. Attendees will include senior Qatari and non-Qatari businessmen, diplomats and officials from several industries.

The event celebrates the 10th anniversary in Qatar and has been supported until now by 10 international business associations from Italy, Turkey Australia, France, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Present at the press meeting were Yousef Abdulla Fakhroo, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at QFC Authority; Anna Kristin Krönert, Head of Corporate Communications at German Industry and Commerce (AHK); Jarmo Kihlstrom, Manager, International Moving; Sezai Arli, Chairman of the Qatar-Turkish Businessmen Association and others.

The 2014 Back 2 Business organisers are the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Turkish Businessmen Association, following the tradition that each year two of Back 2 Business's supporters take charge of the event. The Qatari Businessmen's Association (QBA) has also contributed to promoting this predominant business gathering.

The main sponsors this year are QFC Authority as the Strategic Partner and Gac logistics as the Diamond sponsor.

The B2B event was launched in 2004 by the German Business Council, soon joined by the Italian Chamber of Commerce. At that time there were very few business councils in Qatar and the business community was relatively small. Nevertheless, the event was an immediate success, since businessmen were looking forward to an informal get-together after a long summer to catch up on contacts and market news. Through a very strong social media campaign Back 2 Business 2014 has reached a very wide audience interested in attending the event.

"We are expecting many new companies participating this year, we have received enquiries from Dubai and other Asian business communities wanting to join this important business gathering," said Arli from TBA.

Libotte said the secret of the B2B success is the "no frills" and "no conference-style" format. "The Back 2 Business is an event that just promotes pure networking in a relaxed mood."

Fakhroo said: "A decade on, Back 2 Business remains one of Qatar's premier business networking events. The broad participation we see from domestic and international businesses, chambers and councils underscores the impressive progress Qatar has made in developing its economy, in particular its private sector, and creating a world-class environment in which to do business."
