Saudi- Riyadh areas earmarked for sacrifices
(MENAFN- Arab News) The Riyadh municipality has announced that 17 markets and six slaughterhouses will be opened for both citizens and expats wishing to purchase sacrificial animals for this year's Eid Al-Adha.
An official at the municipality told media here that this move will also provide an opportunity for the sheep dealers to sell their animals at designated points amid calls for the departments concerned to streamline the sheep market.
According to the official temporary sites for sale receipt and delivery of sacrificial animals in different parts of Riyadh have been planned to serve the largest segment of the population and carefully organized to ensure their health and safety.
Referring to the points of sale he said they include fixed sites in Azizia markets Saadah and Oraija in addition to 14 temporary locations in different parts of Riyadh with guidelines to facilitate access to those areas including pickup and delivery facilities up to Oct. 7.
Six slaughterhouses were also designated including Riyadh Automated Slaughterhouse located on Al-Mansouria Road where expat animal dealers will be allowed this year. The Azizia slaughterhouse located within the livestock market in Azizia is designated for Saudi citizens only.
Other sites for Saudi citizens are Saadah slaughterhouses in the west and north of Riyadh and Monsiah located along Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Road.
In his statement Market Director General Mohamed Al-Nafeei said that all sites earmarked for the purchase of sacrificial animals have been equipped with sufficient manpower and the mechanism to monitor the implementation of the operational plan.
'The instructions are very clear and it is important that they are followed to the letter to prevent any abuse during the Eid Al-Adha that would adversely affect the success of the municipality plan' he said.
