Judge orders registration of case against Sharifs and 10 others


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk constituted a three-judge bench to hear petition of PTIs central leader Ishaq Khakwani seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

An additional sessions judge of Islamabad on Saturday ordered the police to register a case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and 10 others while disposing of a petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) over alleged killing of three political activists in the federal capital on August 30.



Three protesters were killed and more than 500 injured when protesters led by PTI chief Imran Khan and cleric Tahirul Qadri clashed with police while advancing towards Prime Minister’s House and other sensitive buildings in the capital’s Red Zone. Police resorted to intense shelling of tear gas firing of rubber bullets and allegedly real bullets to stop the protesters.



Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand admitted a petition by the PTI and ordered registration of cases against PM Nawaz Sharif Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif federal ministers Nisar Ali khan (Interior) Khawaja Asif (Defence) Saad Rafiq (Railways) and senior police and administration officials.



Meanwhile Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk on Saturday constituted a three-judge bench to hear petition of PTI’s central leader Ishaq Khakwani seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on charge of making a false statement on the National Assembly floor that he had not asked army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif to play a role in defusing the ongoing political impasse in the country. The army later claimed that the PM during a meeting with Raheel had asked him to facilitate the resolution of the crisis which prompted latter’s separate meeting with Imran and Qadri.



The case will come up for hearing on Monday. Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja will head the bench. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who had gone to New York to address the UN General Assembly is due back here on Sunday.
