Japan Australia to Speed up Work on Defense Cooperation Pact


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) New York September 25 (QNA) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott agreed to accelerate work toward signing a new pact aimed at facilitating joint exercises and operations between their defense forces according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

"We would like to work on our security cooperation in a positive manner and to start arrangements for the new pact as early as possible" Abe was quoted by a Japanese government official as telling Abbott in New York.

Their meeting came on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. (QNA)
