Vodafone Qatar named 'Best Telecom Company'


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Vodafone Qatar was named 'Best Telecom Company' at the Arabian Business Awards 2014 in recognition of the company's outstanding performance over the past year.

The award was received by Vodafone Qatar's Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani at a ceremony in Doha attended by top business executives.

The award committee recognised the fact in just 5 years of operations; Vodafone Qatar's customer base has reached more than 1.3 million, which means 63 percent of Qatar's populations are now using Vodafone Qatar's services. The committee also noted the company's strong financial performance and applauded Vodafone Qatar's corporate social responsibility activities.

"We are proud that the Arabian Business awards committee has recognised Vodafone Qatar's impressive achievements and efforts that are reflected in our solid growth. Vodafone is committed to playing a key role in Qatar's society and to bring the world's most advanced technologies to help realise the 2030 Qatar National Vision," said Sheikh Dr Khalid.

The year has seen many major achievements for Vodafone Qatar. Most recently the company distributed its first dividend payment to its shareholders. Vodafone also rolled out Qatar's newest 4G network for a world class mobile data experience that allows customers to fully take advantage of superfast speeds with access to exclusive content and music.

Prior to that Vodafone Qatar launched two exciting products with exclusive benefits - Red Postpaid and Falla - targeted to the youth segment which have proven very successful.

On the CSR front, the focus is on continually giving back to the community through the Vodafone Qatar Charitable Fund; their annual World of Difference programme which identifies and supports social entrepreneurs; their partnership with ROTA and their Vodafone for All accessibility initiatives with MADA to name a few. In May 2014, AmanTECH, Vodafone Qatar's aid programme for online child and youth safety was launched which aims at promoting digital literacy amongst parents and improving children's digital safety.
