UAE- Life in prison Dh50000 fine for drug trafficking


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An undercover policeman pretending to be an interested buyer arrested him red-handed while selling 10 strips of Tramadol pills to him.The Fujairah Criminal Court of Appeal on Tuesday upheld a lower court’s verdict sentencing a 20-year-old Comorian man to life in jail and a Dh50000 fine on charge of possessing narcotics with the intention of trafficking.

The court also sentenced him to an additional year in jail and a Dh10000 fine for using drugs.

The case dates back to June this year when the Fujairah Police arrested the accused F.M.A. after receiving a tip-off from a reliable source. According to the information the police received F.M.A. was looking to sell narcotics. An undercover policeman pretending to be an interested buyer arrested him red-handed while selling 10 strips of Tramadol pills to him.

The urine and blood sample of the accused tested positive for drugs. The accused confessed to using and possessing narcotic pills with the intention of trafficking and promoting them.
