UN Official Thanks Qatar for Hosting 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Vienna September 24 (QNA) - Executive Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Yury Fedotov has expressed his warm thanks to the government of the State of Qatar for hosting the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Fedotov said that this event is at the heart of the global response to the challenges facing the world in the promotion of criminal justice to confront all forms of crime especially the trafficking of human beings smuggling of migrants and wildlife crime as well as many other activities of transnational organized criminal groups. An official signing ceremony to host the conference was held on Monday and was attended on behalf of the government of Qatar by HE Deputy Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for hosting the Conference Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al Hammadi who is also Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and HE Qatar's Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri. The 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice will be held in Doha during the period from 12 to 19 April 2015 and will discuss issues such as international cooperation effective responses to emerging crimes the challenges of promoting the rule of law to support sustainable development and national approaches to public participation in strengthening crime prevention and criminal justice.
