iPhone to shut down Beats music service

(MENAFN) According to TechCrunch, Apple is set to shut down the Beats Streaming music service, which it acquired earlier this year, in order to focus more on iTunes, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

Apple's decision also fits its strategy which aims to maintain a unified brand. Apple paid USD3 billion for Beats, a move which appeared at that time to be helping the iPhone-maker reach new audiences.

TechCrunch website did not determined a specific date for the shutdown, but that five sources familiar with the product said Apple would be shutting down the brand.

Signs of the move were also evident with the lack of Beats Music pre-installed on the newly-released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, TechCrunch report noted.
