A New World Record And An Underwater Wedding Later

(MENAFNEditorial)

A new record for longest underwater dive was in the books for Allen The Grouper Sherrod as he exited the Ocean Saturday after being immersed below the water surface for more than 50 hours.

51 hours 4 minutes and 28 seconds said the timer as Allen Sherrod returned to dry land triumphantly reclaiming the record holder status he had set back in 2011 but which was broken last year by a diver off of Malta.

The record feat commenced at about 6:30 am Thursday last week as Allen Sherrod entered the water where he would be eating drinking and sleeping while remaining under the water surface for two days and two nights. According to Allen Sherrod one of the biggest challenges was “doing the time” but a special highlight during the event probably helped a bit as Allen Sherrod and his wife renewed their vows.

Dressed as a beautiful mermaid wife the former Weeki Wachee mermaid that used to be a popular Florida attraction featuring underwater performers in siren suits Barabar Wynns and Allen Sherrod renewed vows in an underwater ceremony while two people dressed as a merman and a mermaid swam around them.

International award-winning photographer Andreas Franke also attended the event to present his exhibit of magical undersea art from The Sinking World of Andreas Franke to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. His amazing underwater art projects has gained worldwide attention and continue to enthrall audiences with every showing.  A special photo shoot with the mermaids took place during the event.

Such as record attempt requires a lot of support and organization and about 100 people were involved in making it happen. Brownie’s Marine Group supported the event with two of its world famous Brownie’s Third Lung Surface Supplied Air Diving Systems – the so-called Brownie’s Third Lungs - that were excellent help for supporters tending to Allen Sherrod and not least for the photographer and models during the photo shoot.

The event drew crowds from near and far and was the perfect setting for yet another showcasing of the family friendly diving solution that the Brownie’s Third Lung present.
