Colleges from 22 countries take part in EduTraC Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The first edition of EduTraC Oman higher education training and career expo kicked-off at the Oman International Exhibition Centre on Monday with representatives of universities and colleges from 22 countries participating. 

The expo was inaugurated by H E Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Sarmi Undersecretary in the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).

Addressing the press conference H E Dr Sarmi said 'The high profile event is being organised under the patronage of MoHE and the Ministry of Manpower. 'The main purpose of EduTraC Oman is to allow students and visitors envision their academic and career paths so that they can pursue higher education and achieve their future goals.'

The expo will also have a special pavilion dedicated to vocational technical and occupational training programmes. Top companies in Oman from telecommunications banking and finance shipping oil and gas engineering and automobile sectors will also participate in the expo. Hashim al Hashmi general manager Al Nimr Expo said 'EduTraC Oman will be a top event in the region with universities and colleges from 22 countries participating in it.

'These include 45 top universities from UK 23 from the US 16 from Malaysia four from Australia and three from Cyprus. 'Universities from other countries like Finland Canada Germany Poland Brunei will also be present at the expo.'

Meanwhile Muktar Mirza project director Al Nimr Expo said 'Schoolchildren from across Muscat will also visit the expo where they will be given specific academics-related information and career counselling.'

The other dignitaries at the expo included Mohsin bin Khamis al Balushi advisor at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Alastair Long deputy head of mission at the UK Embassy H E Costas A Papademas Ambassador of Cyprus H E Umardin Hj Abdul Mutalib Ambassador of Malaysia Roland Dubertrand Ambassador of France several embassy officials high ranking delegates from various ministries top level management officials from higher education and training institutes and several public and private sector companies.
