S. Korea, China launch 13th round of free trade talks

(MENAFN) South Korea and China started the 13th round of negotiations for a planned free trade pact, with hints of a possible deal despite differences over sensitive issues, Yonhap reported.

The talks have failed so far to bridge some huge gaps, but a new momentum to push forward a deal since the agreement was reached between presidents of both countries.

The two parties started their formal free trade negotiations in May 2012 and both presidents agreed to work together to achieve an agreement by the end of 2014 in early July.

China accounts for more than 30 percent of South Korea's exports. Bilateral trade of goods between the two countries totaled about USD270 billion last year, Chinese government figures showed.
