Three Afghan Soldiers Martyred in IED Attack


(MENAFN- QNA) At least three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed following an explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED), defense officials said Monday.

The Afghan Defense ministry spokesman, Gen. Zahir Azimi did not disclose further information regarding the exact location where the incident took place, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

No militant group commented on the incident so far. Taliban militants and other insurgent groups frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition forces.

The Afghan Defense minister Bismillah Mohammadi told Afghan senators last four weeks of the current year was one of the deadliest for the Afghan armed forces as NATO troops have fully transferred the security responsibilities to Afghan lead.

According to security officials, the Afghan army deaths stands at four service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised explosive device (IED) attacks.
