EasyJet finalizes Airbus deal worth USD2.05b


(MENAFN) EasyJet said it had finalized a deal to purchase 27 single-aisle A320 planes valued at USD2.05 billion at from European aircraft maker Airbus, Gulf News reported.

As a result of the latest deal, the British low-cost airline said it would increase its fleet to 304 aircraft by the year 2019. The delivery date of the cited deal is set between 2015 and 2018.

The cargo also announced plans to raise its shareholder dividend payout, the airline said, adding that it secured "a very substantial price discount from the list price".

"We are bringing new aircraft into the fleet as we continue to see a significant number of new profitable opportunities in our core markets in the near term and to maintain our cost advantage," it added.
