Qatar- Ashghal holds Open Recruitment Day to attract engineers


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As part of its efforts to develop its workforce and attract competent engineering and technical specialists that can contribute to its projects, the Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' organised an open recruitment day on September 16. Ashghal offered career opportunities for experienced engineers specialised in different fields related to roads designs and projects, and drainage networks designs and projects.

The recruitment day saw a large number of applicants with the participation of 400 participants. The authority also received about 277 CVs during the same day in addition to a big number of CVs that were submitted on Ashghal's website.

The recruitment day happens at a point when the authority is witnessing noticeable acceleration in the pace of implementation of a wide range of nationwide infrastructure projects. The various projects are part of the biggest comprehensive construction process Qatar goes through. This requires additional efforts to develop specialised talents in the authority with experience in the engineering and technology fields.

Ashghal's Human Resources Manager, Saif Al Kaabi commented: "Due to the large amount of Ashghal's infrastructure projects that are being implemented or will be implemented soon, the authority is seeking to fill numerous vacancies currently available in the Roads Designs, Roads Projects, Drainage Networks Designs and Drainage Projects departments, through the open recruitment day.

The available positions include senior engineers, experts and engineers specialised in civil engineering, roads, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), electrical and mechanical systems, among others.

Al Kaabi stressed that the authority gives priority to qualified and specialised Qatari talents through its ongoing plans to increase the number of its Qatari employees, to meet its Qatarisation goals. He also encouraged the Qatari youth to specialise in the various engineering fields to benefit from the enormous employment opportunities in these areas, with Qatar's steps to reach its ambitious goals as defined by "Qatar National Vision 2030."

Ashghal organises a number of open recruitment days on annual basis, and the last one was in June 2014. The authority also holds briefing days to introduce its scholarship programme for Qatari students, and has constant communications with Qatar University to attract outstanding students in various fields related to Ashghal's work.
