(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The General Directorate of Civil Defence conducted mock drills at three different points: Abdulla AbdulGhani and Brothers Co. (Toyota) Al Khor Branch and Qatar National Bank branches at Wakra and Mesaieed on Thursday.
The operations started as the Civil Defence centres in Al Khor, Wakra and Mesaieed received information about mock fire at the prescribed centres. The fire rescue team rushed into the scenes as the security teams activated fire-alarm in the buildings and evacuated the building and guided the staff and customers to the safe assembly points.
The firefighting team of Civil Defence controlled the mock fire and started a search operation for missing or injured persons as the team found there were no missing. The ambulance team also took part in the operations.
The Civil Defence Evacuation officer Capt Khamis Salim al Sowaidi said that the mock drill operations have made major developments on fire safety awareness and most of the establishments were prepared to meet the mock drill training as well. He added that the drills were conducted as part of the GDCD's plans to create awareness about safety measures and train the staff of various institutions on how to address risks during a fire.
