(MENAFN- QNA) The projects carried out by the Arab League in Sudan and the model villages in particular have contributed significantly to the achievement of stability and promotion of peace and the return of hundreds of thousands of displaced people to their villages, said Governor of North Darfur State Osman Mohamed Yousif Kibir.
Speaking during a meeting with Special Envoy of the Arab League Secretary General on Humanitarian Affairs and Relief Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al-Thani and her accompanying delegation, the North Darfur State Governor pointed to the contribution of these projects to the gradual transition to development and early recovery.
Kibir lauded the great efforts undertaken by the Arab League and the State of Qatar, its government and the people towards achieving peace in Darfur.
The North Darfur State Governor attributed the great development taking place in Darfur, when compared to that of 2003, to the signing of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).
For her part, Sheikha Hessa announced Arab League's readiness to implement more projects to help in attaining security, stability and the interests of the people of Darfur.
She added that she would take advantage of her relationship with international organizations beside her expertise in order to achieve development in Darfur region in accordance with the priorities set by the government. The Arab League Special Envoy praised the positive developments taking place in Darfur on the ground in term of security and urbanism and in women and children fields.
She added that her visit to North Darfur State aimed at knowing about the projects carried out by the Arab League in Darfur and its impact on the stability and the normalization of the humanitarian situation and the transition to early recovery in addition to identifying their new needs and proposals in areas of projects.
