Canada's Rogers Fido Bell and Virgin Mobile have started accepting preorders of iPhone 6 models. Most Canadian carriers are offering the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 at $265 for the 16 GB model. They are offering the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus at $375 for the 16 GB model.
According to ’s website both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will take three to four weeks to ship to Canadian customers.
At the store on Fifth Avenue in New York the line of would-be buyers stretched for more than 10 blocks. employees led them in a New Year's Eve-style countdown to herald the store's opening at 8 a.m. local time and high-fived customers as they entered the glass cube leading to the underground store.
In Asia many who lined up to buy the new phones in Singapore Hong Kong and Australia said they planned to re-sell the devices in China where regulatory hurdles are holding up the new phones' debut.
Shares of the Cupertino California-based company were steady at $101.77 at 2:35 p.m. in New York. The stock has gained 27 percent so far this year.
