ISIS Advance Displaces Thousands of Syrians


(MENAFN- QNA) UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said Sunday that an estimated 70,000 Syrians were displaced to Turkey in the last 24 hours as a result of the threat of ISIS.

Turkish authorities and the UN are preparing for the possibility that more Syrians will flee to Turkey in the coming days,UNHCR office said in a statement.

ISIS fighters have seized a number of villages in Syria that are populated mainly by Kurdish communities. The Turkish government responded to the fresh influx of refugees by speeding up the construction of two refugee camps, while UNHCR said it was supplying thousands of blankets and mats and was planning to set up registration centres.
