Japan Rejects Planned N. Korean Probe Report on Abductions

(MENAFN- QNA) Japan has rejected Pyongyang's plan of not offering fresh information on the 12 Japanese officially recognized by the Japanese government as having been abducted to North Korea in an initial report on Pyongyang's reinvestigation into the matter, a source familiar with the two countries' relations said Saturday.

Pyongyang said it plans to offer information only on those who are not on the official list but suspected of having been abducted by North Korea, as well as Japanese left behind in North Korea amid the chaos at the end of World War II and Japanese spouses of North Koreans who returned there, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

North Korea notified Japan earlier this month of the planned content of its initial report on the investigation.
