EPA PAAAF probe mass death of fish


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Sept 20 (KUNA): The Environment Public Authority and Public Authority For Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAF) affirmed on Saturday they are closely following up and probing the cause of mass death of fish in Jun Al-Kuwait a small bay in the Arabian Gulf. In a press statement the EPA said that marine pollution control and biodiversity departments and central laboratories are studying the causes of the mass death of fish. It added that samples from the dead fish are being studies. Moreover the EPA would seek the help of UK Centre for Environment Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) as a per a recently agreement for cooperation to protect Kuwait marine life and ecosystem said the statement. Meanwhile Head of the Public Relations Department at PAAAF Shaker Awadh told KUNA that there is coordination between PAAAF and others concerned bodies on this matter and laboratory results will provide an answer to the death of some fish. The amount of dead fish have declined he said describing that a reassuring factor.
