Poland's int'l tourist arrivals to hit 16.5m in 2014


(MENAFN) According to the Polish Sport and Tourism Minister, the number of international tourists estimated to visit Poland this year is to hit 16.5 million, Xinhua reported.

Spending by foreign tourists visiting Poland totaled about USD1.55 billion per year, a huge amount that fuels tourism businesses and all those operating around tourism, the minister said.

During the first six months of this year, 8.78 million Polish tourists took advantage of tourist facilities in Poland, 8 percent more than in the same period last year.

"Thanks to EU membership we have become part of a machine that drives the tourism economy in the EU," he said, adding that during ten years Poland had spent USD1.54 billion on developing tourism.
